As an environmentally conscious marijuana company, we jump at the opportunity to give back to the earth. We have a special relationship with the ocean, having named our Costa Mesa dispensary after the profound sense of discovery that comes with the sea. Since June 8th is World Ocean Day, we’ve decided to take our environmental commitment further with a Costa Mesa beach clean up. We’d love for you to join us!

Come spend time with our OC dispensary staff and local community while giving back to a cause that’s close to all of our hearts. We’re lucky enough to be surrounded by such beautiful nature and beaches, it’s only right that we give back by cleaning up and restoring the shore to a pristine condition.

Newport Beach Cleanup Details

We’re determined to take care of the beach this World Ocean Day, which is why we’re happy to provide almost everything you need to help us out. Just bring a positive attitude, comfortable clothes, sun protection, and a reusable water bottle. We’ll provide the rest.

Our Orange County dispensary will provide all of the cleanup supplies, as well as coffee and light refreshments to kick off the event. We’ll also provide a post-cleanup lunch to celebrate our success and thank our wonderful customers for their contributions. And as our regulars have come to expect, we’ll also bring good vibes and a fun, welcoming atmosphere.

Why Celebrate World Ocean Day?

Our dispensary cares deeply about sustainable cannabis and environmentally friendly practices. By celebrating World Ocean Day, we can turn that care into direct action.

Observed on June 8th, World Ocean Day is a global initiative meant to raise awareness about the crucial role the ocean plays in many aspects of our life. From producing oxygen and providing food to absorbing carbon dioxide, it’s a critical part of the earth – and one that doesn’t get as much love and attention as it deserves.

According to the World Ocean Day 2025 annual report, World Ocean Day has grown considerably since 2002, reaching millions of people every single year. The movement brings together businesses, aquariums, schools, government, and other organizations for one collective purpose: to keep our oceans clean and healthy.

The World Ocean Day network has over 2,000 organizations across 180 different countries. The idea that our community-driven, boutique cannabis store can be a part of this mission gives us hope and a renewed sense of purpose.

Here are some amazing ocean-related facts to consider this World Ocean Day:

  • The ocean covers 70% of the planet’s surface. But we can only see 20%.
  • The ocean houses 94% of all life on the planet. Scientists estimate at least a million species living in the ocean. Most of these creatures are invertebrates.
  • The ocean provides more than half of our oxygen. Most of the production comes from plankton. When we protect the ocean, we protect our climate.
  • 8 million metric tons of plastic enter the ocean each year. Join us to do our part in combatting this problem.

Why Clean Up Newport Beach?

Ocean wave breaking near the shore at Newport Beach

Even though most of the ocean isn’t visible to us, a lot of people see Newport Beach every single day. It’s in the heart of Orange County, with plenty of residential areas, shopping centers, and activities that draw tourists and locals.

Because so many people visit this beach daily, it bears the brunt of those who leave behind litter. According to the local government, the city of Newport Beach hosts between 20,000 and 100,000 tourists every single day during the summer. That’s a lot of trash left behind.

And that’s exactly why we encourage you to join us on World Ocean Day for a Newport Beach clean up.
