On Sunday, April 6, catch us at the Wild Buffalo Race Finish Line Party at Newport Aquatic Center to cheer on the We Are Ocean team of paddlers, made up of cancer fighters and survivors. There will be food & drinks, swag giveaways, photo moments, and more! Join us in championing new horizons of hope and community impact.
Wild Buffalo is an annual relay race where teams from all over the world paddle outrigger canoes 32 miles, from Catalina Island to Newport Aquatic Center in Newport Beach. We’re wowed by the strength of We Are Ocean’s unstoppable team of paddlers.

More About We Are Ocean
We Are Ocean was started by Jack Marshall Shimko in 2012 as a non-profit corporation and became a part of the Newport Aquatic Center in 2021 as an official program.
WE ARE OCEAN MISSION
The primary mission of NAC / We Are Ocean Cancer Program is to provide ocean-based, transformational adventures for teens and young adults fighting and surviving cancer. NAC / We Are Ocean Cancer Program focuses on bringing intimate groups of cancer fighters and survivors together in coastal wilderness environments while providing opportunities for connection, self-discovery, empowerment, support, and adventure.
